Soho Times

The sun is out and Soho comes out to play. Not a patch of green goes to waste.

Paper Man

video
I watched this trailer last night and I really like it, it seems like a lovely story and Jeff Daniels seems to be on great form. Is it weird that I kinda like Ryan Reynold's hair do in this?! Perhaps because of the costume...it just fits....maybe on its own it wouldn't feel right. Anyway I'd like to see this movie.

Ashley Olsen

I really like the Olsen twins but more for their fashion prowess rather than their acting credentials. I reckon the Ashley one has got a bit of an edge to her, even when she dresses casual. Here she is though in some editorial shoot looking all sultry and French...and brunette...but of course!

Sia Furler

I always have time for this lady. She's such a breath of fresh air and never afraid to get silly in her videos. Her album covers and videos are so colorful much like her personality and character. I'm hoping to get to see her again next month when she performs here in London, her new album  We are Born sounds so uplifting I can't wait to get my little dirty mitts on it.

Totally fell in love with this song at first listen and needless to say I love the video as well...Go Sia!

Patrick Nagel

Found out about this artist today. Sadly he died a long time ago at only 38 years of age but not before leaving his mark on the art world. He has remained most famous for his Playboy illustrations and designing the album cover for a certain number one album - Rio -  by a little known band, probably never heard of them...erm Duran Duran something or other...anywhoo I really like the bold, dark but simple lines he uses in order to create stunning female portraits - I particularly love the strong jaw lines, the hair and make up in these pictures -  and turns out he and I share a technique of sorts. He worked mainly from photographs starting out with simple drawings which he would later then translate on to a canvas or board etc. I  tend to bring mine into Illustrator and trace them, therefore mostly cheat but you know...anyway it would've been interesting to see his art today I guess but his stuff remains pretty amazing and a reference point for many young artists today no doubt.

This video for LCD Soundsystem's Drunk Girls. I had a listen to one of their new tracks today called Dance Yrself Clean and I loves it too but this video is just insane...this is what happens when you let a bunch of clearly mentally volatile adults dressed as what exactly are they meant to be dogs/rabbits/pandas/Klansmen?! not too sure myself...loose on a set....with pretty epic result! Thumbs up from me for this one, looking forward to their new album as well.

Sunny Weekend in London

The weather has been absolutely gorgeous over the weekend and I spent quite a great deal of that outdoors, paying a visit to the lovely Hampstead Heath on Sunday and then checking out the local park on Sunday which was heaving with little kiddies and adults making the most of the little patch of green...I took a little blanket with me and the book which I've been seriously neglecting, made a bit of a progress with that and then headed back home with the intention of watching some movies....and that never happened, well I watched half of one...I blame the heat. Anyways, these are my pictures from the weekend.

Brett Manning

Brett Manning is a girl...a girl who likes to draw with ink and experiment with textures. She is based in Chicago. I like her stuff a lot.

Pendulum

I can only handle Pendulum in small doses although seeing them live would probably be something quite special... I like this video a lot.

There's a lot to be said for simplicity...I love these minimalist vector illustrations by Paul Tebbott .They remind me a lot of the Catch Me If You Can title sequence which is one of my all time favorites. The colours are great too bearing that 50s pastel, desaturated look. Great style considering the guy is self-taught.

My Sunday in Pictures

A collection of pictures from my little adventure yesterday. Starting with more cherry blossom pics whilst waiting for the bus, some exhibition thingy happening on Carnaby Street which I walked into as I was passing by, a cool red car which I wouldn't mind myself even though I've got no clue what it is but it's probably one of those ones that anyone should know and erm some cheeky muffins which invited me in.... I'm still pretty much using my favorite app as an excuse to take photos of everything and anything but I love it. Cherry Blossoms 4 Ever!!!

Casette Kids

Fresh from checking Krozm, I spotted this other stylish music video for Casette Kids featuring a Patricia Arquette- esque lead singer a la True Romance and some pretty cool 80s disco synths and heavy bass reefs. The whole thing looks a bit fashion editorial-ey in places but that's ok I like it a lot.

Justin Bryan Nelson

So I reckon this guy must have some sort of hair fetish thingy obsession right?! But I still like his drawings.

This video for Midnight Juggernauts directed by Krozm - a three-man directing collective dontcha know -
Ok nothing groundbreaking here but I like the idea and the fact that the visuals go with the music. Nice

Soho Random Times

Because it's not everyday you meet a member of the Wu Tang Clan outside your work...
Granted I have seen many famous faces walking the streets of Soho but never had my picture taken with anyone of them but since this guy was taking the time to be nice to us mere mortals I plucked up the courage and basically sneaked when he wasn't looking...haha not really but he was polite and quite nice....and very tall!
